As his first primetime teleserye project, Princess and I, shoots up to the top of the ratings board, Daniel Padilla admitted he feels lucky to be part of such a successful project even if he is new in showbiz. “Siyempre gusto namin magpasalamat at kami’y natutuwa talaga dahil nag-number one nga po. Talagang masarap na feelingtalaga. Ako first time ko mag-teleserye. Masaya talaga. Siyempre gusto namin ibigay lahat safans talaga. Gusto ko magpasalamat sa lahat ng fans na nanunuod ng Princess and I araw-araw. Grabe po nang pasasalamat namin sa inyo at mahal na mahal namin kayo kahit mukha po itong pang-artistang artista na salita pero totoo. Maraming salamat,” he said during the Princess and I thanksgiving party held last August 22 in Cerchio restaurant in Quezon City.
Although rumored to be sweethearts already, Daniel maintained that he and co-star Kathryn Bernardo are happy with a very close friendship. “Kami po ay nag-re-relax, chill lang po at suave lang. Masarap din yung wala munang pressure, sunod lang sa daloy. Palagi naman kaming enjoy di ba? Sensya na magulo po kami ngayon, medyo may paltik kasi ako (laughs). Pero nung dumikit ako [sa kanya] nawala eh. Hindi ako nawawalan ng gana. Ngayon ko lang na-realize yan,” he said.
Daniel has always been very outspoken about his admiration for his pretty Princess and I co-star and this was very obvious when he was asked to comment about the issue that Kathryn was seen hanging out a lot at his condo. “Wait lang po, gusto ko lang linawin na napaka-bastos po ng issue na ito, hindi ko gusto yung salitang nagbababad siya sa condo ko. Hindi po maganda ito para sa isang babae na nagbababad siya. Unang una, wala nga akong condo eh (laughs),” he clarified.
Daniel also denied the rumor that he and Kathryn are already on “MU” status. “Hindi, talagangcomportable lang kasi, kasi alam mo yung feeling na mas kumportable ka sa trabaho mo?” he added.
When asked if he was wiling to wait two more years until Kathryn turns 18 so he can court her, Daniel confidently said it is not an issue with him. “Basta tuloy-tuloy lang yung masayang pagsasama namin ni Kathryn, yung walang problema para mabilis lang ang two years, parang isang tulog lang yan,” he said.
The 17-year-old actor said he is also not bothered that other young actors like Dominique Roque have expressed their admiration for Kathryn as well. “Salamat. Siyempre, yung gusto mong babae gusto rin ng iba. Kung gusto niya, eh di ligawan niya, okay lang naman sa akin. Siyempre ayoko naman ng away. Sawang-sawa na ako sa away,” he admitted.
The Princess and I star also explained why he hates it when people compliment Kathryn about her long hair. “Gusto ko lang linawin, ayokong sinasabi pag mahaba ang buhok ni Kathryn, ayoko. Kasi ang daming lalake sa buhay ni Kathryn!” he added.
